  1. I enjoy that music, too; in fact, "Village Green" might be my favorite Kinks album. But anybody who loves straight-forward rock'n'roll done with catchy barre chord riffs and clever lyrics should enjoy albums like "Schoolboys in Disgrace," "Give the People What They Want," the aforementioned "State of Confusion" and "Word of Mouth."/5(62).
  2. The rich, warm production is perfectly suited to some of Ray Davies' finest songs, 'Good Day' and 'Summer's Gone', while 'Too Hot' would have sounded right at home on Muswell Hilbillies. 'Sold Me Out' out-Stones the Rolling Stones. For anyone skeptical about The Kinks post-'70s output, this album will be a revelation. tafipertatonuscelarmaripatur.coinfo of Mouth (CD).
  3. Word of Mouth falters when Ray's canny self-plagiarizing eclipses the songs themselves. "Too Hot" is a slight, complaining song about city heat and urban grief that weakly reprises the keyboard figure from the '83 hit "Come Dancing.".
  4. the kinks always surprise me. Word Of Mouth CD music every time i listen to the kinks, i am impressed with their talent and versatility. this album reafirms my feeling. i also love the fact that, along with the social commentary, ray has a sense of humor. and who else can play lead guitar like dave? 6. By The Kinks were back in the charts and doing well. Word Of Mouth came out and it did not do well. I really have no idea why it did not. This album is pure rock with some amazing tunes. Word of Mouth, Do It Again, Sold Me Out, Going Solo are great tunes. But, Living On Thin Line is a new sound for the Kinks/5(62).

  8. State of Confusion gave the Kinks their biggest single in nearly 20 years, but they didn't try to replicate the music hall-tinged pop of "Come Dancing" on its follow-up, Word of Mouth, preferring to concentrate on straight-ahead hard rock.5/
